The Texas Capitol

After my great lunch I headed to the state Capitol. I’m not sure why but I really enjoy visiting the Capitol every time I’m in Austin. I love pulling open the front door and walking in. There were very few people and I made the usual tour. I took a couple of pictures with my fisheye lens.

Texas chili parlor

Today I checked out an Austin bicycle (after practicing in Ft. Worth) and headed up Congress toward the Capitol. The first order of business…lunch. Of course I head to the place with the best cheese enchiladas I know of, the Texas Chili Parlor (order the Freida’s Chili Enchiladas). They were delicious.

Austin

Took a quick pre-birthday trip to Austin. After stopping in Hutto for an amazing visit with my good friend Sue, I headed to Austin. I stayed in a trendy hotel on South Congress, the Hotel San Jose. The grounds were very nicely done. The room was stark but comfortable. The place is an old motor lodge that has been redone.

The Mail

Once everyone was there Stacy told Emily to check the mail. Unfortunately Emily had seen the postman as she arrived home earlier in the day and had gotten the mail (according to Stacy, Emily NEVER gets the mail). Oh well fail, but Emily sensing something was up headed to the mailbox. Carolyn and I had created three postcards describing our plans for taking Emily to Europe.
